Descripción

ALBERJERTE is a rural hostel located in El Torno, a small mountain village in the Valle of Jerte, province of Cáceres. The building offers all necessary facilities and services to small and large groups, adults and children. Beside, it has an orchard, a garden and a terrace for our guests’ ´relaxation. We organize training courses and leisure activities to public in general. The cultural and landscaping environment take us from Alberjerte Montfrague National Park to Plasencia, with its medieval and Renaissance landmarks, going through Vera and Ambroz, with the enigmatic Hervas, and the incomparable valley that names the river of Jerte. You will also find the Garganta de los Infiernos (the Hell Gorge), a special interest area for its distinctive flora and fauna, as well as Interpretation Centres of native nature and the traditional agrofarming lifestyle. At El Torno range, you can find centenary farms, built with dry stoned and false dome. The “Ruta de las chozas” (the huts trail), situated on the range of the town, goes through beautiful mountain scenery until the Canchal of Maqui. From there, you can overlook much of Extremadura, part of Ávila and much of Salamanca. There is a viewpoint over the Jerte Valley with far views. We invite you to visit it. Alberjerte has all necessary liability and transportation insurances to organize the activities we offer. The instructors are graduates on leisure activities, and have the necessary training to develop educational and leisure time activities, as well as great experiences for our clients.

Sustainable agriculture/ farming:

We offer local products: jams and liquors, fruits and olives cooked in a traditional way, pure olive oil. At the restaurant, we serve organic food according to the season. We offer a walking tour through areas of sustainable production and commercialization of cherries.

Cultural Heritage and Rural Development:

The rehabilitation of the building that houses the hostel has been done respecting and using original construction materials: stone and wood. We promote the census of historical farmhouses in our village. Also, we participate in the publication of a magazine and a documentary about local history, and the need to protect and promote cultural heritage for developing sustainable tourism in our area. We designed a trail, Ruta al Canchal del Maqui, which contemplates the traditional culture, anti-Franco paramilitaries routes, and the richness of our local flora and fauna.

Natural Resources:

Use of solar energy for heating and hot water. We have control devices and water savings in common areas. Control of electric lighting by sensors, limiting its use to a given time and appropriated hours of the day. We have brochures that provide information regarding the use and promotion of renewable energies in Extremadura.

Environmental protection:

We offer tours and courses on agriculture and ornithological environmental education to our clients, which promote respect for nature. We collaborate with Adenex and the Regional Youth Association, in reporting uncontrolled dumping, and the proliferation of illegal constructions in natural surroundings of Jerte.
